Hopefully the thought of knowing that he is now running free, without pain pain and does not have to share his bones with his house mates will make you smile. Message: These dogs are highly intelligent, courageous and elegant. They have remained relatively unchanged since Scandinavian cultures first domesticated them. Elkhounds are high on intelligence, need effort on obedience. They will do their thing if you're boring them. Generally adaptable if you work with them.
