SBIS AMERICAN GRAND/CANADIAN/UK CH. KAMGAARD KUT ABOVE
Young "Kobi" is the son of two of our favorites; Trevor and Bunny. He is very much a blend of the better qualities of both these individuals having their joy of life, eagerness to please and beautiful breed type and soundness wrapped up in a lush silver wrapper!
"Kobi's" first outing was at the Lehigh Valley KC match in January of 2009 at six months of age where he won a huge Puppy Group in an overall total entry of some 400 puppies in the show (above). His first point shows were the Greater Milwaukee Norwegian Elkhound Association specialties in late February where he was Reserve Winners Dog the first day under breeder-judge Sally Berger ("Galena Creek") followed the next day by Winners Dog under Rick Berger for a 4 point major. Less than a month later, "Kobi" won his second major at the New Brunswick Kennel Club under Dr. Donald Sturtz by winning Best of Breed along with placing 3rd in the Puppy Hound Group.
Shown sparingly after his puppy career due to the "gawky teenager blues" he finished easily in a few more shows at age two after receiving an OFA Excellent rating. Kobi's finishing show was another specialty, the Norwegian Elkhound Club of Southeastern Michigan under Mr. Grant Winchell ("Lehigh").
Coming out in May of 2011 as a Champion, his first showing was the supported entry of the Garden State Norwegian Elkhound Club judged by Mrs. Anne Indergaard of Norway where he was Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed to kennel-mate "Kekka" over a number of male Champions. Two weeks later found him winning his first Specialty Best in Show at the Norwegian Elkhound Club of the Potomac Valley under Mrs. Polly Smith followed by another Best of Breed and GR4 win the following day at the Potomac supported entry under Ms. Carol Reisman ("Kai"). Not bad for starters!
After a wonderful career in the states and Canada for several years with a number of Best of Breeds and group placings, Kobi found himself jetting off to Belgium in October of 2014 with co-owner Sally whereupon he traveled through France enroute to his final destination, the United Kingdom. He will be living with the Kinderhorn/Conrick Elkhounds to not only be shown but (more importantly) help the UK gene pool there. He has settled into his new home seamlessly and is enjoying his new life there. His very first show in the UK was the Norwegian Elkhound Club of Great Britain's Contest of Champions where he was the victor and since then has claimed the three Challenge Certificates necessary for his UK title... not an easy feat!
